Residential & Commercial Fencing FAQs

How do I know what fence is best for me?

Fences can play many roles, and different styles of fences meet different needs. Some provide privacy, some provide more security than others, and some styles may look better with some types of houses/properties than others. Our experts can provide you with advice and guidance based on your wants and needs.

How long does it take to install my fence?

The installation process typically takes two days over a three-day period. On day one, the crew will arrive and set the post for the fence. The post will sit for the second day to allow time for the concrete to set. On the third day, the crew will return and finish building your new fence. Depending on job size, it could take less or more time to install your fence, but our experts will set appropriate expectations at the time of the Free Estimate and Design session.

Will my wood fence warp over time?

While we use high quality, #2 grade or better, pressure treated wood, wood is a natural product and some expanding, shrinking, warping and splitting may occur over time. Our experts can discuss the pros and cons of wood fencing with you and provide advice to minimize the occurrence of this over time.

Should I stain my wood fence as soon as it is installed?

For best results, we recommend letting wood fencing dry out for 2-3 months prior to staining your new fence.

Will the final cost always match the estimate?

Yes, provided there are no changes to the job. Our estimates will cover all anticipated costs of the fencing plan discussed at the Free Estimate & Design session. If changes are made to the plan, such as more fencing adding, additional gates added, or other changes, any additional charges would be discussed and agreed upon before proceeding.

Do I need a survey done before installing a fence?

We highly recommend having a physical survey done prior to installing a fence if you haven’t had one done already. Fence placement is the responsibility of the customer and moving a fence down the line can be costly. We recommend having the survey completed so our experts can make sure it is installed correctly the first time.

Will my yard be torn up/damaged after installation?

Your yard should look the same after installation as it did before, except for your beautiful new fence! In rare cases, there is landscaping or other things that may be at risk of being damaged. If our expert thinks this may be the case, they will let you know at the time of the estimate. If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to bring them up at your Free Estimate & Design session!

How long after I sign my proposal and pay my deposit will my fence be installed?

Our lead times vary throughout the year based on the volume of jobs, type of job, weather, etc. Our experts will give you our current approximate lead time at the time of our Free Estimate & Design session, and our staff will keep you updated throughout the process.

Do I need to worry about utilities in my yard?

Before we start installation, we will contact NC-811 to mark for all public utilities around the location of the fence. If you have any private lines, such as private power, septic, irrigation, etc. you would need to mark them or have them marked before we start digging.

Is there an additional charge for clearing the fence line?

Yes, there is an additional charge for clearing the fence line. This will be discussed at the time of the Free Estimate & Design session and will be factored in on the estimate we provide.
